First approved by the FDA for the treatment of interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome) in 1996, Elmiron® has come under fire for causing severe side effects in patients who took the drug.
Numerous independent studies and research teams have linked severe vision issues such as blindness, retinal maculopathy and blind spots to Elmiron®. Some of the studies have also found that the side effects associated with Elmiron® continued to worsen even as the patient stopped taking the drug.
