Since most SGLT2 drugs like Invokana® function through the kidneys, patients that take their drug may experience severe dehydration, which can lead to serious consequences for any diabetic.
Dehydration severely compromises blood flow to the arms, feet, and legs. This limited blood flow resulted in amputation for many patients that were taking Invokana® or any other SGLT2 inhibitors.
